Thailand-Myanmar Border at Three Pagoda

Three pagoda pass is located in Sangklaburi district of Kanchanaburi province to the west of Bangkok. The border situation at this scenic mountainous region is , at the time being , peaceful and foreigners are allowed to pass for a day trip into Myanmar side.

Getting there

Bangkok to Kanchanaburi
Kanchanaburi city is located about 130 km to the west of Bangkok. There are both non air-conditioned and air-conditioned buses running between Bangkok and Kanchanaburi . The buses leave almost every hour at the Bangkok's Southern bus terminal located on the western side of Chao Pharya river and it takes about 2 to 2.5 hours to reach Kanchanaburi.

The trains leave Bangkok's Thonburi station ( located on the western side of Chao Phaya river ) every day at 07:40 am and 13:50 pm and it takes about 3 hours to reach Kanchanaburi. The return trains leave Kanchanaburi at 07:27 am and 14:50 pm to Bangkok.
Kanchanaburi is famous for the bridge over the river Kwai built during world war II by the Japanese army using many thousands of laborers and war prisoners.

Crossing the border
The border is open from 06:00 am until 18:00 pm. Thais are charged 25 Baht and foreigners need to pay US$ 5. Inside Myanmar, tourists can visit settlement villages of Mon , Karen , etc. Items which can not be brought into Myanmar are cameras, video recorders, mobile phones, binoculars and especially guns.To know the up to date situation at the border , please consult at a travel agent in Kanchanaburi.
